DOCVA, Documentation Center for Visual Arts organized by Careof and Viafarini, offers to the public a series of services for the promotion and documentation of contemporary art.

The DOCVA Documentation Center for Visual Arts collects and divulges documentation material about contemporary visual arts: books, magazines, videos, artists’ portfolios and information about international organizations.
These materials were gathered within the activities organized by Careof and Viafarini, through the portfolio viewing program and the video post-production service, as well as through purchase and donations.
The materials are available for consultation at the DOCVA reading room, as well as online through specific databases. These related data banks allow to carry out researches according to different criteria, as well as to view images of works of art and videos.

The new Documentation Center for Visual Arts comprises a specialized Library with 15 000 titles including monographic catalogs, catalogs, essays, artists books and magazines; a Video Archive with more than 4500 artists’ works and video documentations; the Portfolio Archive with documentation material of more than 2600 Italian artists; the database ArtBox with information about opportunities such as competitions, fellowships and organizations for artists and art professionals.
The materials and pieces of information are all made available also through online databases: www.bibliobit.it (catalog of the library), www.archiviovideo.it (complete list of the artists in the Video Archive), www.portfolioonline.it (complete list of the artists in the Portfolio Archive, with information and selections of their works), www.italianarea.it (around 100 monographic documentation files about the main artists of the Italian scene, including bio/bibliographies and images of their works) and www.bancadatiartbox.it (synthetic information about opportunities with links to related websites).
Thanks to DOCVA the materials and services until now gathered and offered by Careof and Viafarini in their previous premises are drawn together and offered to the public in a single center. Here the public will have for their use a consultation area with a reading room and computers, as well as a video room for viewing and presentations.

DOCVA further hosts and makes available for consultation the Invideo archive by Aiace and the video archive by ShowBiz.

DOCVA makes use of a network of collaborations with international organizations and Italian organizations promoting contemporary artistic research, among them Artegiovane, Fondazione Antonio Ratti, Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Fondazione Querini Stampalia - Premio Furla, Fondazione Spinola Banna per l’Arte.
